Saber Super Light Snatch Block

Serious winch rigging without carrying an old-school heavyweight block.

A snatch block gives you more options when a straight single-line pull is not the best way to rig a recovery. Redirect the winch line around an obstacle, get a better angle on the anchor, or set up a double-line pull. The Super Light Snatch Block does all of that in a smaller and lighter package than a conventional heavyweight block, so it can live in the recovery bag rather than the shed.

Two pulley wheels to choose from:

• Polymer. 17,000kg minimum breaking strength. Made for synthetic winch rope.
• Steel. 24,000kg minimum breaking strength. The higher-rated option.

Choose the variant that matches the winch line you run, and make sure every component in the recovery system is rated and inspected before use.

Polymer pulley (SBR-LWSB1P)

Designed around modern synthetic-rope recovery systems. The side plates are 7075 aluminium and the pulley is POM engineering polymer, which gives a strong, compact block with a smooth, rope-friendly running surface. The attachment geometry is made for a correctly rated soft shackle, so the whole setup stays light with no unnecessary metal connectors.

The higher-rated model in the range. A steel pulley wheel and a 24,000kg minimum breaking strength for heavier recovery setups, in the same compact Super Light format.

What a snatch block does

Depending on how it is rigged, a snatch block can change the direction of the winch line, help you get the vehicle or anchor into a better position, or set up a double-line pull. A correctly rigged double-line pull reduces the load on the winch, though how much depends on the angles, the anchor and the friction in the system.

Safety

Recovery loads are very high. Before every recovery:

• Inspect the block, pulley, side plates and attachment points.
• Inspect the winch line and connector.
• Make sure the variant you have matches the winch line you are using.
• Check that the recovery points and every component in the system are rated for the load.
• Follow accepted winch recovery procedure and keep everyone outside the exclusion zone.

Minimum breaking strength is the destructive break rating. It is not a working load limit, safe working load or recommended operating load.

What does a snatch block do?

Does a snatch block double the capacity of my winch?
Not in any reliable way. A properly rigged double-line pull reduces the load on the winch, but how much depends on the angle of the pull, the anchor and the friction through the block.

Can I use steel cable with the polymer model?
